Aliveness and damnation – which will prevail? Which is stronger in you? Does the perishable tempt you more than eternity draws you? This is the manifest, lavish interplay of the universe's eternal return! There is no longer any place for despondency; you can only go forward, and you must rise to the heights of the spirit. Live with what has been allotted to you, and do not lament the lack of something else! Happiness, eternal happiness, is your calling!
Think on a cosmic scale – do not let your confinement in the moment mark the boundary of your world; indeed, may worlds be yours, many, many universes to roam! You live in the world of experiences… Every seven years there must be renewal. As the decades fly by, your eyes slowly lose their light, but perhaps at last the third, the mystic eye will open and lay bare the secrets of the universe! The capacity to sum up is important; you must see the whole picture, not just the tiny pieces of the mosaic. Narrow-mindedness leads nowhere; be consistent, and live responsibly with the freedom you have recognised and desired, longed for… Love is freedom, the greatest freedom, which must be practised outwardly, while inwardly it must take root in the living divine connection.
If only you could always feel the tangible nearness of divine protection – but it is always there; you live in the palm of the universe! The programme: love; the practice, enthusiasm; the daily bread, aliveness; the pledge, patience; the question, uncertainty; the answer, certainty. The fruitfulness of your faith is the future, its soil the past. The horizon of the universe shrinks beside the power of love, happiness sprouts, but beware, piling up is not the same as piling on! See the good, or at least the useful, in everything.
Your egocentrism, in the good sense, is the courage with which you proclaim your own dwelling the centre of the universe and make your home the axis of the world. You have nothing else to do but bring the universe home, condense eternity into the moment, live fullness and divine bliss here and now, for if you do not achieve it here and now, then when and where?
Backing down is not manly; action is the heroic path, knowledge the path of dry brooding, devotion the sweet path of romantic lovers. The mystic seer, the magus, stays in the background, and yet it is from there that his will prevails. You will not fulfil everything yourself, but those empowered by truth, its anointed, its representatives must travel far. Boldly send on its way whatever must now go, for as one came, so the next may come too. In the shade of a great tree nothing can spread its branches; that takes room, wide horizons, for the sapling to grow a crown.
And the crown matters in a figurative but also in a real sense – success must crown your deeds, for this is the fulfilment of the divine will and the descent of heavenly harmony to earth. Things come to fulfilment – this is the harmony that is the direct consequence of Beauty and Love meeting in the heart.
The capacity to synthesise is not merely the ability to sum up, but giving birth to a new quality, working out a new spiritual order for society, articulating a spirituality that can be lived, and making a pure life possible. The antidote to evil is the worship of God – that is why it must be kept in the foreground. To cherish God, the divine representative, divine knowledge and divine love is what matters most. Mysticism is the conviction that springs from a living connection with God, a living, crystalline conclusion that withstands even the test of ruthless self-examination and self-exposure. Tradition has stood the test of time, but do you possess the eternal horizon of the universe? This takes reckless daring, and, overcoming the short-sightedness of everyday life, you must look into the Sun. Yes, the Sun!! The new-old teacher, whose mythic presence will accompany you for ever. Even if you stand alone and stripped bare before the universe, your guardian will still be there, the Sun, who is your spiritual teacher, your master, your attentive companion, and to whom, for that very reason, you must also offer a mystical prayer. Sun-prayer!
